Sunny Sunday Morning.... and Redone Art

Here we are again on a beautiful sunny Sunday Morning.

One of my small plans for this weekend was to look at some small pieces of art I had made that I wasn't pleased with and see if I could come up with some way to redo them into something I DID like.

This is one I reworked last night and my eyes now like it. That's always a good thing. The background teal/aqua is the same as it was, That part I was ok with and it would have been hard to change that anyway, although if I hadn't liked it, I could have covered most of it up.

I show further below what it looked like before I updated it.

Before that though, this is my front porch this morning. I rearranged it last night so I could get by the large elephant ears. I didn't quite get it finished, so pretend you don't see the table on the right. 🤣 I previously had it on the far end with some plants sitting on it and it needs a good washing now..... but not this morning. The sun comes up on the horizon in front of my porch, so the light comes in on it sideways for a while. The air was still, so the windsocks were calm and not dancing wildly like they do most of the time..... before they get blown off their hooks and I have to put them back up. Sometimes they just land on the porch, which is easy to correct, but sometimes they fly off out into the yard and I have to go fetch them first. I don't mind. I should have come up with a solution where they couldn't blow off, but so far, none that have worked. I'll have to think on it a bit more.

So this is what the piece above looked like when I started. I did this several weeks back. the colors are ok together and it is fairly balanced, but I could not like it when I was done with it, so after it dried, it was put over with a few others that I made and didn't like either.

Last night I had been working on something else and had ended up with the multip colored circles, so they were still laying around my desk. I had no idea how I was going to "fix" it. It already had a strip of music in the design, so I found more music and pretty much just covered up the previously offending design. I wasn't determined to keep the heart on it and actually glued one over top of it that was from different paper, was not liking that either when I came across a scrap of map paper that had been painted yellow. I decided to try it before getting rid of the heart shape altogether, but found that I did like it there.

I half-heartedly laid one of the multi-colored circles on top of the music paper, not really expecting it to fit in, but instantly found that I DID like it there and so began the adding of circles and shapes from the same paper that had been leftover from the other piece. I liked the ending product, much better than the first.

I didn't do this last night, but a little while back I had shown some colorful shards of paper on a black background and at the same time, showed the photo on the left of more colorful paper in cool colors on a white canvas. Although the paper was pretty, I had wondered it would have been better if I had put it on a black background also, so one day I just painted all the white canvas black, well except for in the middle where I painted one little background part yellow. I wasn't quite sure it was better, but there was no going back either way. It's not my best work, but just thought I'd show the difference in what I had shown before while I was showing a "re-do"

So for me, it's the same old, same old, but happy Sunday story in that, in a couple of hours, I will be going to Mom's for visit. Like I told yesterday, I made an old timey sweet potato pudding for our dessert. My first time making this recipe we found in My Great Grandmother's recipe file. Yesterday afternoon I also cooked a pork roast and afterwards I cooked some lima beans in part of the broth and some black-eyed peas in the other part of the broth. I had small bags of each frozen and wasn't sure which would make my Mom happy, so I just cooked them both. I won't mind at all having the leftovers from one or the to add into my lunch menu this coming week. Yum-Yum !
