New Collage Paper & Stencils.....

Hello there !
Yesterday, while I was working my overtime for work, Amazon delivered some packages and included in those packages was a new (to me) kind of paper to work with to make collage papers and a small pack of new stencils. It's like Christmas here to me every time stuff like this lands. 🎅
So of course last night I had to play with them a little. I didn't mean to play with them this much, but that's what happened. The little panel in the center of this photo was one I had used previously to try something else and then.... some thing else, neither of which worked out, so I used it as a practice panel to see how the new paper reacted to being stenciled or having paint applied and then to see how it acted when glued down.
Funny to me, this paper is a roll of Exam Table Paper, you know, the kind that goes across your doctor's exam table. It is very thin, but somehow very strong as it would need to be for a person to sit or lay on it. That made it strong enough to stand up to wet paint AND wet glue. It turned out to be very nice to work with.
As you can see from the papers, the stencils had different design shapes. The neat thing is, that although the shape is the same on each stencil, the shape is graduated from larger to smaller, causing it to appear to have some movement or depth. I didn't realize how neat that would be.
Like I said, I didn't mean to do this many, but after I dropped a small dollop of different colors of paint on my paint plate, I found it was going further than I thought it would and after my initial test paper or two, I still had paint left laying out that I could not put back in the tube, so I just continued to play and play while the TV was playing in the background. The one that has the semi straight lines was not one of the new ones, but it was laying out, so it got used too.
I loved how the paper turned out to work when glued. The design showed like it should and the paper nearly completely disappears. I know I am going to enjoy using it going forward, however, I'm not quite sure how I will use up all these extremely colorful papers I created. 😂 We'll see what happens!
As usual, I am having my lazy Sunday morning as I anticipate a trip across the county to my Mom's house around noon. I made a very nice meatloaf last night for us to enjoy for lunch today. I am taking some Bob Evans mashed potatoes (or as some call them, creamed potatoes) We love homemade, but have found that this brand is really good and if you add some butter into it, they are very close to what you would make at home. (well, the way we do it here that is). I'm sure you might tell a difference in a side-by-side comparison, but for so little difference, it is well worth buying this refrigerated version instead of peeling, boiling and mashing real pototoes for just one or two people. We are also going to have some green peas, but those are in a can...LOL... well.... so our lunch will be semi homemade. I also cut up some celery sticks and am taking some tasty pimento cheese to dip with them as an appetizer.
Although I've heard stories of some of my family history through time, not WAY back history, but the last few generations, I have just begun to ask Mom more questions about when she was growing up, things about her parents and grandparents and also things she remembers about my Dad's family. She knows most of it still and it makes it fun for her as well to go back to some of those long ago memories. I enjoy hearing it and it seems to make her happy to talk about it too, Although we have never run out of things to talk about before, I decided that these sort of conversations gets us away from today's world for a little bit. A kind of afternoon's escape. I plan on doing that again today. Who knows what I might learn?!
It's going to be fun !
I hope you have all been enjoying your weekend.
Love you !
