Yooo how's it going Hive gaming, it's been some time since I've posted here and especially in this format... It's been some rough times, but I think I'm ready to continue making gaming content.

In the last few days I've been especially interested in Minecraft and I've been watching random videos about it and I've stumbled upon a rather interesting mod.

I present to you....

The Better Than Adventure uses a Minecraft beta 1.7.3 as a base for the game while re-imagining what the game would have been if the game stayed on this version.
 

 

 

Some of the OG players that have played in this 2009-2011 range will remember what the game was like back then and what success it had even before getting officially released...Crazy!
 
I personally started playing around beta 1.2-1.3 but before that I've watched a lot of youtubers play since Alpha.
 
But enough rambling, let's check out what the mod has to offer and why I like it so much already.

Episode 00 - The Bay of Beginnings

This is the place I got spawned in, I instantly liked it, it kinda reminds me of a bay area, hence the name of the episode ;)

Here's one of the "new" stones in the game, they are alternatives to granite, diorite etc. - the ones we have in modern Minecraft.
 

Also a new type of tree. This is a Cherry Tree and (obviously) they have a chance to drop some cherries when the leaves decay or broken.

Also they have their own planks alternative.

The old achievements are just so nostagic...

Here's another cool feature in this mod. This is the "recipe" book in this mod pack. Since it does add a solid amount of new stuff it's important to have some kind of guide on what you could do... Of course as you can see the materials are hidden until you don't acquire some of them and the recipes gradually open up.
 

I found this good looking stop on a small patch of sand on the side of the coast and decided that I'm gonna build my starter hut over here.

 

 

In the morning I got surprised by a skellington 😂 I gotta admit that I've had gotten used to the newer combat system and I constantly forget that you can spam-click in this version of the game... And about the sprinting don't even get me started.. I'm always trying to sprint, but It doesn't work.

 

 
AAAAIRON!!

This first episode will be more regular pictures of stuff I accomplish, and it will probably contain a bit more pictures. I already made over 150 photos just for the first post LOL....
 

After I made my stone pick I went down to my "mine" hole and I've gathered my first iron.
Ore variations are a nice addition.

 

 
Another "unexpected" visitor climbed over the walls of the house. DID YOU KNOW THEY CAN DO THAT !?!? 🤣

After murdering a few cows I got my first piece of armor finally... I gotta say that in this version of the game animals don't all drop food like in newer versions, besides the pig that drops porkchops, so there isn't much incentive to murder them anyway. Even breeding them isnt a thing yet.

Also another cool addition to this mod is different stats depending on the type of armor you are wearing. Different armor pieces have different boosts so that makes the player experiment with what works best in different situations.

 

I've got a feathered friend who decided to pay a visit. ;)

 

 

 

I found some clay earlier that I smelted and eventually decided to use brick stairs to make the roof of the house. I think it will look cool.

Also some interesting items that I have no idea what they are, but get me excited to go and figure :) That's what I like in games, EXCITEMENT!

Another element of genius when making this mod is that the developers try to add only stuff that will benefit the game in a good way without ruining the experience. For example the bed recipe has been modified to require two cloths in addition to wool.

This way the player is incentivized to go and fight zombies their first night so they can get the cloth, instead of just skipping the night like everyone does in modern Minecraft.

 

 

 

 

 

I went around a bit to collect a decent amount of clay because I realized how much I'm gonna actually need If I want to finish the roof...

 

 

 

This one seems rather interesting... I wonder what It might be ;)

Here's another amazing feature of this mod. You can take pictures of the world from above IN REAL TIME! Yes. I've been looking for something like this for years...

 

 

 

I've also collected some sugarcane from around the place and started growing it so we can have that as well. In this version there is no enchanting, but we can make sugar and combine that with milk and eggs to make CAKE!

A rather long post I might say, I don't know if you like this format, but I think that if someone is interested in the post it's like a story when you start going down and it might not even be enough for some people :)
