HIVE ORIENTATION : Bringing More People Inside the Hive Blockchain

Our mission to escalate Hive and bring more people inside the platforms is still rolling this month. For today's blog, I will share with you our recent Hive orientation last Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

For those who didn't know, this orientation is affiliated with the OCD Onboarding Program. Aiming to bring more users to Hive, guide them, and give the newbies the best journey in Hive Blockchain.

For this orientation, we conducted it online using the Web 2 platform, where we can present and share our slides. This time, we had 13 attendees who were from different islands of the Philippines.

We have one from Mindanao, one from Bulacan, One From Samar Island, and the rest are from Cebu Island. Two of them are invited through Facebook Marketing that we are doing currently, and the other are cold market who are invited by the other newbies we onboarded recently. Also, we have @helianthus-chloe, who assisted us with the orientation.

Introduction

The orientation started by introducing ourselves, where we came from, our hobbies in life, and how we found Hive. They also share why they are interested in joining the platform and what possible topics they can share.

I also share my journey in Hive and who introduced me to this platform and the blogs I mostly publish. In this part, I learned that most of the attendees are students from Cebu who want to try this kind of platform where they can also develop their literature and writing skills. The other three are mothers who are looking for a safe space where they can share their thoughts and life journey.

Basic Of Hive

After the Introduction, I jumped to the basics of Hive. I let them watch the Hive Informational Video made by @lordbutterfly. On this part, I informed them what kind Hive is and how it differs from other web 2 social media platforms they currently used nowadays. How it became decentralized and a blockchain.

I also share some information about cryptocurrency and the kind of crypto tokens they can earn inside the Hive Blockchain. I was amazed when some of them already knew a little information about the crypto world, especially the Students. Unlike me before, honestly, when I entered the Hive blockchain, I had zero knowledge about crypto.

##### Hive Ecosystem

I also introduced the Hive ecosystem, which they might explore soon. I discuss the different Hive front-ends, from Social, games, and NFTs. They are shocked that they didn't know they could play some games as well in Hive. They are also excited to explore the NFTs. Some of the students are fun of arts so they might also explore creating digital art.

##### PeakD Interface

This time, I navigate them inside the @peakD social platform, where they can create their blogs and content they will share in Hive. Not to be biased with others, @peakD is more newbie-friendly, and its interface is most likely similar to other web 2 social platforms.

I show them the feeds and open a sample blog. How they engage and upvote a certain blog they like. I guide them how to create a blog and how they upload photos for attachment.

I also explore them into different communities they might explore soon where they can relate and share their hobbies and interests in life. The mothers are getting excited with this part; they ask the communities about being a mother, the foods they cook that they can also share, and the journey they have as a Family. I love how they became interactive in this part.

Reward System

I also discuss the reward system of the blog they will create, from the curation time of 7 days and the division of reward to the curators. The reward they will have after 7 days, like the Hive Power and the HBD. I also ran through the wallet they have where they can see their rewards after 7 days and the transactions of their account.

We also teach them how to create an Introduction blog and guide them on what are the topics they will put on it. We also help them to create a quality blog that will engage with the other Hivers.

Do's and Don'ts

On this orientation, we also emphasize the Do's and Don'ts in Hive, like plagiarism, spamming, Identity theft, and the importance of posting in a proper community and engagement.

The orientation ended with an interactive Question and Answer. I love how they are eager to learn deep down about Hive and how they will start soon their Hive Journey. I was a one-hour orientation, and I hope they learned a lot from it.
