A NIGHT FOR THE THIEF - IN SEARCH OF MONEY || 2014 PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

The Plan
I had already packed up my bags and luggage to travel the next day being Friday to school but I considered to go with my family to worship in a night programme. I contemplated for a while because I was the only one that was going to be at home, I decided to go with them not because I was afraid but I felt, travelling on Saturday won't be bad too since it was weekend.
So we prepared and left for our place of worship at about 10pm. It was an all night worship, so we were supposed to be back in the morning around 4am. No one ever thought something was going to go wrong. We had electrical appliances, money, properties and even a well prepared delicious soup in the house. The one that was most important to me was the laptop because it was my turn to take it to school.
Our Departure and the Discovery
So we had a great time to worship. At about past 4am, we left for the house. My Mom some others left first. My Dad, I and some others followed. It took about 15 minutes before we could get to the house. Mom's car got to the house before us, so as we arrived, we noticed that my Mom and my other siblings who first got home were panicking. Mom specifically was saying they have enter the house, our minds could only go to thieves when we heard the statement. We highlighted and all rushed to see how it happened. Behold they burgled the kitchen door to find their way into the house. Though we were not sure if it was one or more persons. They ransacked everywhere especially the my parents' room, down to the girls room and then the boys.
The Stolen Items
The first thing we discovered that has gone was the laptop. My elder brother almost took it along but thought their was no need, so he left it for the thief. I think it was on the table of the boys' room. Also, the money that was given to me to go to school with which I kept by the side of my traveling bag was taken. It was #10,000, (13.5) in dollar and (35.56) in Hive.
After ransacking my parents' bedroom, they got about #170,000 which is (230) in dollar, (602) in Hive according to the present market. They turned the room upside down to be able to see that. Luckily for my Mom, they didn't see the money she kept in a book which was dropped carelessly.
The girls' room was not spared. My baby sisters money they were saving in big bottles were taken. I can't tell the amount but it was some good amount for the owners. The funny thing was that, the thief/thieves broke the bottles on the mattress, took the morning and left.
The cost of everything stolen was about #300,000, (405.40) in dollars, and (1066.85) in Hive.
Our Reactions
We were moody and very unhappy. We suspected just one single person. A security man for a neighbour who saw us leave. My Dad told him to look after the house as we were going to stay away for the night. We thought since he knew where we went and how long we were going to be away, he robbed the house. We could not suspect him less.
For that almost stayed back because of my preplaned journey to school I thought what would have become of me. Maybe my presence in the house could have stopped them or they would have come in like that and it would have been bloody. We all pondered on that for some time Anyways, we were all thankful to God that I did not stay back.
The food in the Kitchen was intact. It looked like nothing was done to the food. Even though we were sad and moody, we (children) became hungry at a point. We had no option, so we warmed the soup, made Eba and ate to our satisfaction because we believe that nothing was going to harm us from the food.
There are lessons from that experience. No one knows when the thief will come around. So we have to prepare daily for him.
As we go in the business of making money, let us also think of its safety. Don't keep money in your house if you don't live in a secured environment. The banks are still the best places to keep physical cash or better still hold your money in a stable digital currency like the $Tether. Your money is safer in such places than in your house.
May we not lose our money to thieves.
