Daniel's mobile phone rang and he went over to pick it up. On the call was the voice of a man who claimed to be from the call centre of the delivery company handling a package which he had ordered 2 weeks back.

He told Daniel that there is some issue with the package and needed additional custom fees to be paid in order the authorities to release the package as it was suspected that the package contained contraband items.

Daniel knew this was no call operator from the delivery company but a phone scammer whom was attempting to trick him to handing over imaginary fees required to be paid to the authorities. He hung up the phone, pen down the phone number the scammer was using and then did an online police report so as to inform the police on scam activities and prevent others from falling victim to such scams.

The next day, a bulletin was sent out by the police to inform the citizens of various numbers used by scammers and to take additional care as more and more scammers are out there waiting to cheat hard earned money by many through illegal means. And if anyone know of such activities, to report to the police immediately.
