Some people like spreading news like town criers, these people I have come to call out the battery. Let the news not happen. They go ahead to even add more salt and sugar to any story they hear just to make it sweeter to the hearers. Most times the news that is carried lacks NAFDAC approval and if you are not careful you can be cut into the web of them. Anything one hears he should go ahead to taste it or verify it to avoid bearing false news but many fail to do so.

A few weeks back, we had a burial ceremony in my local assembly. The man that died is well known and the children are prominent too so it was a well-packed ceremony. So many Nigerian Celebrities came including Chinedu Ikedieze popularly known as Aki. I decide to seat outside due to my children avoiding distractions and all that. I was able to picture when most of them arrived.

While I was seated the woman close to me started a conversation with the actor and she mention to his friend known as Paw-paw that he was late. I was like really? She was like you have not heard, I said no. I told her well let me find out because I know if he was dead the social media will carry it very well.

When I went online to check, I saw that he was involved in an accident but he is safe and undergoing treatment. I shared with her immediately and that ended the matter.

In this time when the means of getting information is not far from us it is good that we learn how to verify any news we get, though the internet has its limitations too.

This is my entry for the hive learners week 29 edition 3 contest.

Thanks for reading.
