One kayaker was bit yesterday and a canoe paddler was bit one month ago. I will not talk about the incidents but rather what is being said in the press. The line in the press is that "we normally don't see sharks out there."

WRONG!

This is totally fake. On the risk of being accused of a being a conspiracy theorist I will make the following case. I am speaking from experience as I fish and dive that whole stretch of coast.

Premise

  • The Waikoloa Coast is the home of the resort and hotel complex for the Big Island of Hawaii and where the majority of the tourist stay.
  • There are not many beaches in that area and the ones that there are are key assets for the Resorts.

The Ocean

  • This area is a prime big game fishing area. Where there are big game fish there are big sharks.
  • Just up the road there is a Heiau (Ancient Hawaiian Temple) which the ancient Hawaiians built UNDER water called Hale o Kapuni and this was dedicated to the SHARK god. (The picture above is of sharks swimming in the area of the Heiau)
  • The shallows of Puako which is immediately north of Waikoloa is the home for young shark pups.

This is so sad when people pass on this type of misinformation to protect profits
