So White! So Blue! - February 26, 2022 @goldenoakfarm

I got started early on Saturday, around 5AM, transcribing the garden notes. When I went out to do the barn cats, it had dropped to -1F. That flock of redwing blackbirds had nearly emptied the feeders, so I refilled them. They moved on during the day and then it was just the little birds out there.

It’s amazing how, sometimes after a big storm in winter, the next day the sky is such a deep crystalline blue.

Everything is so clear and sharp against the cool whiteness. It was bright sun all day and the house stayed warm with no stoves going.

It was so cold in the night, even though we got sleet in the afternoon on Friday, the snow stayed on the magnolia.
 

The funny snow in this photo and some of the others is where the snowblower threw the snow when Tom ran it around Friday afternoon.
 

This Big garden almost looked like spring 2 days ago, when it was in the 60’s and sunny.

Sunday is to be sunny and cold again. I will continue working on the notes and hope to make better progress. On Saturday I had to create forms for each of the little trees, and there were 13 to do. Then put the notes in. I didn’t finish that but should quickly in the morning and move onto easier things.
