Today we get to announce The Periphery Foundation's first partnership.

Sober Squad is a Minnesota-founded Native American addiction recovery network emphasizing culture and empowerment. It began only a few years ago, and already their Facebook group has almost 12 thousand members posting messages of support, resources, and especially their milestones in recovery--which are cheered on by the rest:

Sober Squad hosts many in-person events, as well, advocating for recovery, culture, and healthy communities. And now these events are taking place in more and more places as Sober Squad chapters are blossoming in other states.

I met one of its leaders, Bradley Harrington, when he invited me to present my documentary "The Wall" on the Mille Lacs Reservation two winters back. It's appropriate, then, that we can give back (thanks, in part, to proceeds from this film) to help Sober Squad. Plus, we're helping by supporting a media endeavor of their own, the Sober Squad podcast.

The Periphery Foundation will be this podcast's first ongoing sponsor.

To our supporters, we'll continue searching for organizations like Sober Squad, organizations that hit to the root of pressing concerns in such communities, as well as continuing to create new media projects addressing these issues.

If you'd like to join in supporting us in these efforts, head to our website:
