Shooting Lucille in the rain on Hive

Being a regular lightpainting photographer, I'll be the first to admit that my Photoshop editing skills aren't the best. I don't need to be since I shoot images in one photographic exposure with only minimal adjustments to such things as levels and sharpness and only where necessary. So when I attended a group photoshoot and came back with an overwhelming 7,000 images I could have easily spent the next several months just sifting and editing the images from one shoot!

So after an outing in the dark last night with @neilru75 and a conversation about damned editing, Neil kindly agreed to have a crack at editing a small sample to give me a few pointers in which direction to go. This is the selection which blew me away!

Lucille here smouldering in the smoke. With this one there wasn't actually much editing going on other than those damned LED lights!

The original image I shot here was littered with horrible light stands and cables for the RGB LED light sticks I didn't much care for. Despite being a rainfall set in a studio it didn't feel like there was enough water so here a liberal amount has been added!

In reviewing these images I was fixated by Lucille's tattoos. Next time we meet in a studio I'll be sure to ask her the story behind some of them!

I really liked the pose here but hated the lights and obstacles in the way. Neil did a great job removing the detritus!

Note to self

I learned a valuable lesson on this photoshoot. Models wearing the same colours as the background makes them appear like they've had a mishap with amputation! In fairness, neither me or Lucille knew what the studio would be like before we arrived. Hopefully I get to shoot with Lucille again and we can address the black background issue!
