A photoshoot with Desne in the dark
8 comments
After last week's aborted photoshoot due to circumstances beyond our control, Desne and I reconvened yesterday with the plan to shoot in an abandoned building. I also had a couple of new RGB LED lights to try out and I was eager to see if they could beat the regular strobes I use.
We arrived at Loxley in Sheffield at the abandoned refractories factory and walked our way in through the insecure security fence. I was laden down with light stands and gear and Desne brought along her wheelie suitcase full of planned outfit changes.
I have loads of images to process but this is a sample selection of what we bagged. More to follow!
Desne in the smoke
We turned up in the factory with no particular plan and always making it up as I go, I gave Desne a tub of smoke pellets and a jet lighter and asked her to go crazy!
Green with envy
After a lot of scratching of my head and fiddling around with the app controlled lights, I dialled in this attractive green on the rear mounted Neewer 660 RGB light. Green tends to be a colour that I've noticed never goes down well on social media with light painting style images; I like it and that's what counts!
Alternate colour
One the advantages of working with RGB lights is the ability to dial in unusual colours. I usually use Godox AD200 strobe lights and find myself restricted to the colours I can use because there's only so many Lee gels I can pack.
About me:
I usually specialise in shooting lightpainting images but occasionally dabble in urbex and artistic model photography. I'm always on the lookout for someone to collaborate with; please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to create art.
