The history of Temperature Measurement

Good day dear Hive Community, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new post and hope you had a great weekend! In my new post, I would like to discuss an interesting historical topic and hope you can learn something new.

In the pictures you can see a slightly different thermometer which was made from the mineral agate. In the past, I have already brought the mineral a little closer and if you are generally interested in it, you will find my contribution here. This kind of Thermometer is definitely something of its own and is at an absolutely high level from an artistic point of view and was made very authentically. The air thermometers and thermoscopes are known as the basis of thermometers, which have been known for several centuries and as the inventor of the first thermoscope is Galileo Galilei known, who created in the 16th century the first model.

In the first measuring devices, the temperature was measured with the help of a glass ball filled with air and liquid. A glass tube was used to connect these two parts and depending on how hot it was, the level in the glass tube changed so that you could measure approximately the temperature. However, this method was very inaccurate and quickly over time, the first thermoscopes were further developed. A major milestone was achieved by the invention of the temperature scale and Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit (1686 - 1736) is known as the inventor of the first standard for measurement.

Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit succeeded in creating a very accurate temperature measurement with the help of mercury and his Fahrenheit scale, which was also not very complex in production and saved costs. Another key figure is also the inventor of the Celsius scale Anders Celsius (1701 - 1744). With the beginning of technical developments, of course this area was also revolutionized more and more and I find it interesting to be able to write something about the history of this topic that surrounds most day by day.
