OLD BUT STRONG || Monomad

Hello black and white lovers and photography in general. As I had mentioned in a previous post, today we have a photo session, which is the second part, to a very old iron and wood bridge. A bridge that brings back many memories of times gone by, and that also was and is an important part of the life of the locals. This engineering work from the beginning of the last century is located in Caliente, a hamlet near the town of Sumidero, Pinar del Río, the land of the best tobacco in the world and where the Viñales Valley is also located.

Under this bridge runs a small but cozy river, where all the boys of the area bathe happily and contentedly. As you can see in the pictures the bridge is (and has been since I know it) in very bad condition. It has only had a few cosmetic repairs so to speak. The truth is that it is a very good work of engineering, very strong, as attested by the thousands of screws and rivets it has, and the hundreds of corrosion wear and rotten boards.

I am fascinated by its structure, at times in the shots against the sky and the landscape it looks like giant spider legs that occupy the entire shot. Anyway, I want to share these images with you, and with it make my entry to the daily challenge #monomad. see you!

Como había mencionado en un post anterior hoy nos ocupa una sesión fotográfica, que viene siendo la segunda parte, a un puente muy antiguo de hierro y madera. Puente que me trae muchos recuerdos de tiempos atrás, y que también fue y es parte importante de la vida de los lugareños. Esta obra de ingeniería de principios del pasado siglo se encuentra en Caliente, un caserío cerca del poblado de Sumidero, Pinar del Río, la tierra del mejor tabaco del mundo y dónde también está enclavado el valle de Viñales. Por debajo de este puente corre un pequeño pero acogedor río, dónde todos los muchachos de la zona se bañan felices y contentos. Como verán en las fotos el puente está (y ha estado así desde que lo conozco) en muy mal estado. Apenas ha tenido algunas reparaciones cosméticas por así decirlo. Lo cierto es que es muy buena obra de ingeniería, muy fuerte, así lo atestiguan los miles de tornillos y remaches que posee, y los centenares de desgastes por corrosión y tablas podridas. Me fascina su estructura, por momentos en las tomas contra el cielo y el paisaje parece como patas de araña gigante que ocupan toda la toma.
