Once again, I am reaching into an old Marvel issue by going back to June 2005 for the Fantastic Four # 526. It is the second and final part of a story entitled "Dream Fever." Written by Karl Kesel and pencilled by Tom Grummett, the Fantastic Four had a confrontation with Diablo as they returned from the Microverse. Diablo wanted the Fantastic Four to allow him use of their time machine so that he could return to 9th Century Spain to go after the Spanish Inquisition. The Fantastic Four refused.
Because of this, Diablo threatened to turn pieces of New York City into gold, which he ended up doing with the Baxter Building. Diablo was able to turn things into gold due to the fact that he came into possession of The Philosopher's Stone. If Diablo was to gain use of the time machine, he would be able to use this circumstance to rule the world. While battling Diablo, Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm begin going at it themselves.
As if this isn't enough, our heroes are extra tired due to their experiencing each others' dreams, with Alicia seeing very clearly the dreams of Diablo. Something must have happened while traveling through the Microverse. Diablo's dreams quickly become nightmares as he enters the Interdimensional Portal instead of the time machine. He ends up in a world with no life.
Sue, who was experiencing Johnny's dreams, receives a revelation about Johnny and his breakups. He never wanted any harm to come to any of his girlfriends due to him being the Human Torch. So he would blow them off. That's the kind of conscientious thinking that can lead to a very lonely life.
