My Actifit Report Card: June 22 2024

Today is day 49 of my #seven77 regimen. And it was a very busy day! I started out with breakfast with my kids, then I got them to help me gather up all their duty clothes and run them down to the laundry room to get them cleaned. Then it was another trip back to Guitar Center to get the right per supply for the drum kit I bought yesterday. Once brief conversation with the manager later, I went back home and finally got everything hooked up...

...Only to realize I had another problem. Things weren't working right. The hi hat was married to the kick drum, tom 1 and 2 were mapped to 2 and 3 respectively, The snare didn't work, the ride didn't work, it was a bit of a mess! So I took the whole setup back to Guitar Center to try and troubleshoot. I'm working with one guy, the manager comes over, he asks me what's up, and I explain it all to him. He's standing there, hands in his hair, looking at this like

Finally, he just goes, "yeah, we're giving you a new one. This is ridiculous." So instead of the open box model, I got a new one! But good things Lukas was there. He had pulled three of the bracket pieces off of the new item I had bought to replace the floor model. He grabbed them, or them in a bag, so I would be ready to go. I get home, start assembling everything, and wouldn't you know it, one of the nuts on one of the brackets has fallen off!

So back to Guitar Center I go again! I think they're sick of me now. I got everything I needed, they have me some free drum sticks for my troubles, and Lukas looked me in the eye, and says, "bud, I say this in the friendliest way possible, please don't come back. Unless you're buying something! Please come back then!" And we both had a good laugh over the sheet ridiculousness of it all.

The good news, though? The drum kit works for Rock Band! So I rocked out a bit today. Started off with my old mainstay Pork And Beans by Weezer, then played some of the custom songs I downloaded. Got myself a nice little workout, and when taught my son how to play the drums! I don't think he fully understands tempo yet. I'll get there...

But no, I'm just happy I have a good solution. And a fun story to tell, no less...

Also, drumming totally needs to be a category on here. It's a workout!
