HOW I BREW MY COFFEE

In this part of the world, while coffee may not be as deeply rooted as tea, I won't be mincing words if I say its currently gaining popularity especially in urban areas and majorly among the younger generations. I am one of those who have come to love coffee so much that I seize every opportunity I get to have one. Guess what? I had to go learn how to brew my own coffee and ever since I learnt that, I do brew my coffee all by myself now. Isn't that cool?

And so, I'm going to be sharing my coffee routine with you guys starting from when I grind the beans to the part when I get the perfect cup of coffee.

Grinding the beans

The first step in making a great cup of coffee is to grind the beans fresh. This will release the most flavor from the beans. I use a burr grinder to grind my beans, but you can also use a blade grinder if that's what you have.

I grind my beans to a medium-coarse grind. This is a good grind for most brewing methods, but you may need to adjust the grind size depending on your brewing method.

Water

Another important factor in making a great cup of coffee is the water. I use filtered water for my coffee. This helps to remove any impurities from the water that could affect the taste of the coffee.

Brewing the coffee
I use a pour-over cone to brew my coffee. This is a simple brewing method that allows me to have more control over the brewing process.

To brew my coffee, I first place the pour-over cone on top of a mug or carafe. Then, I add a filter to the cone and rinse it with hot water just to remove any papery taste that might be in the filter.

Next, I add the ground coffee to the filter. I use a scale to measure out the coffee and water, so that I can get a consistent cup of coffee each time.

I then slowly pour hot water over the ground coffee, in a circular motion so that it can evenly saturate the coffee grounds and after some few minutes, the coffee will be brewed and then it will be ready to be enjoyed.

Adding milk and sugar

I like to add a little bit of milk and sugar to my coffee. This helps to balance out the bitterness of the coffee and make it more flavorful.
