The question was presented for the Week 211: #Weekend-Engagement asking: "What mystery would you most like to solve or understand? Explain what and why."
I am not sure when it was, but I think it was when I was a youmg adult that I first became interested in the story of Amelia Earhart. I'm not obsessed with it or nothing, but it just tickles a curiosity itch to watch documentaries and read articles about her. Yeah, her disappearance in 1937 fascinates me, but so does her spirit.
The mystery of Amelia’s disappearance over the Pacific Ocean while trying to fly around the world is one of the greatest mysteries of the last century. This mystery surrounding her, and her navigator Fred Noonan's, disappearance has resulted in thousands of searches to be conducted, conspiracy theories to form, and speculation to abound. However, no factual answers have been found to this day.
What draws me to this mystery seems to be the historical importance, but also the human side of the story. Earhart wasn't just a pilot who tried to fly around the world and disappeared. She was someone who pushed the limit and walked on the edge as a woman of her era.
This mystery has left many shaking their heads for decades now. Solving the mystery of Earhart's disappearance could provide some closure to her story. Yes, it is simple curiosity itch, but also the desire to gain some more knowledge of the past and of the human spirit.
Thanks for reading,
Joe
