The Capabilities of No-Code Website Builders - Outstanding Or SubPar?

Hi Folks, Welcome to another Blog Post from me in the Geek Zone Community. I'm one of your latest members Chel, and I love creating Tech-related content about my Personal Experiences in my Online Activities.
Today, I will like to share some information about my Experience with a No-Code Tool Called Framer, and I hope to create this in a way that can be of value to you! Let's Begin.
 

 

I'm a Designer, So What?

First and foremost, Designers are people who love to translate their creativity into Attractive UI & Graphic Designs. These are folks who like their Developers Counterparts, also has a lot of Ideas and Applications that they wish to build.

I Started my coding Journey as a Front-End Developer but not too far into that journey, I realised that I loved the Design side of Building Applications X10 more than the Structural Part.

Being so Lucky to be born in this time&age, my desires weren't bound-off because so many Applications exist that could become a game-changer for me.

A Personal Project Using a No-Code Tool

When I began my Personal Project called Portals Xperience a few months back, It was a big challenge for me to figure out how to translate the ideas I had into a Real Working Appplication.

The Following Components were a Requirement to My App -

• An Interactive Website - W/ lots of Animation
• Embedded 3d Contents
• Signin/ Authenticating Users + a Database
• Course Database to Collect, Edit, Update Users Status

The Challenge was that I've got Little to No Practical knowledge of Programming Languages like Next, Node, MySQL, and Backend Workflows, which were Core.

So, I gave No-Code Tools a Quick Shot!
 

 

Make a Decision: Framer OR Webflow?

Starting off with my new path, I was determined to find a Way to Achieve ALL the functionalities I wanted for my Application regardless of my lack of programming knowledge AND I was going to do them Myself.

Building Process: Doubts & Trials

I Like Framer A LOT!.

U knw that feeling you get when you can create a Full ONE Hour Video about a Product without receiving sponsorship? That's how I feel about Framer 😅.

Framer makes it absolutely easy to build Beautiful sites; Framer is a Tool that Syncs Perfectly with the kind of Sites I like building, and Well I'm Hooked!.

At the same time, On the Process of building with Framer - There've been lots of functions that are not polished and these was were I got some doubts, like - "Can I realise PortalsX Application to the full extent with Framer"?.

The Trials came when I had to devise solutions to problems, and being a relatively new tool, there aren't many well documented tutorials.
The cool stuff I get from these is - As a Website UI Designer, I'm able to Integrate Creative Solutions to my Problems (Not Logic / Code). And it works out every single time!.

What You Can Do with a No-Code Tool (Framer)

My Building Process with Framer has been steady. Framer provides so much functionalities, but for those not available, I've have confidence to find novel ways to implement the most Advanced features.

The foll are all what I've been able to build;

• With A Code Playground - to Write Raw Code for Specific Components or Full Website
• Overrides Functions to create Variables From Elements, and Substitute Values with State
• A Backend Workflow For App Database, Including Auth and Real-Time Data Sync (With Supabase & Xano)
• Embed HTML5 / Iframe Links and Views in Your Webpage

Summary - We can Fly!

I'm a big lover of tools that removes tech boundaries n restrictions. Making it Possible for those willing, to go forth AND Create. Framer is one of such tools - Some other Tools includes (Blender, Netlify, HotJar).

In conclusion, You can do anything irrespective of what you DO & Don't know, All you gotta do is Look Online & Discover some Amazing Tools.!
