Lofoten - Blue, orange and yellow
16 comments
Light is wonderful and unique in Lofoten islands, every hour of the day.
Main colors are the blue of the ocean, and the orange/yellow when sun goes down.
Houses colors are mainly red, orange and white. Red is the simple colors to obtain in past centuries, from salmon fishes.
Houses are made by wood, no stone building, because stone here is hard to work, and also because wood is warmer than stone in this cold country.
Here people looking the landscape in Henningsvaer:
Here windy snow at sunset, between Vestvågøy summits:
A seagull in Å (the city with the shorter name in the world):
A building along the new E10 road:
A summit at sunset, with a delicate indefinite color:
A sunset on the calm water, in Vestvågøy:
A small chapel in Vestersand, with the last light of a very long sunset. All around a cemetery in the snow, in front of the ocean.
That orange light hang on the chapel is like a refuge, a little hope, in the sea of death.
Here my video about Aurora Borealis (same images of the last one, but different, more dramatic music):
Pictures taken with Sony Alpha 7iii and Nikon D800.
