Today is Pakistan's independence day; it marks the day when Pakistan and India gained their own separate territories. The 14th of August 1947 was a day of blessings for us, and I sang a mili naghma to celebrate our independence.

یہ وطن تمہارا ہے، تم ہو پاسباں اسکے

یہ چمن تمہارا ہے، تم ہو نغمہ خواں اسکے

یہ وطن تمہارا ہے، تم ہو پاسبان اسکے

اس چمن کے پھولوں پر رنگ و آب تم سے ہے

اس زمیں کا ہر ذرہ آفتاب تم سے ہے

یہ فضا تمہاری ہے، بحر و بر تمہارے ہیں

کہکشاں کے یہ اجالے، رہ گزر تمہارے ہیں

یہ وطن تمہارا ہے، تم ہو پاسبان اسکے

اس زمیں کی مٹی میں خون ہے شہیدوں کا

ارضِ پاک مرکز ہے قوم کی امیدوں کا

نظم و ضبط کو اپنا میرِ کارواں جانو

وقت کے اندھیروں میں اپنا آپ پہچانو
