Eid shopping in Dhaka city

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Greetings my dear hive fellows. I am a Bangladeshi, and I belong to a Muslim family. The biggest festival for Muslims is the Eid festival. Here, our culture is shopping for all our family members during this festival. I also go shopping before Eid, as the other people do. So, my two friends and I were going to the market for our Eid celebration. I had a great shopping day together with my friends Joya and Tanjina. As we all are students, we have chosen a day which was our holiday.

The day was Thursday. As that day was our holiday, Ramadan month is going on, so all of us were fasting. So we woke up late and were preparing to go shopping in Newmarket, which is the name of that market located in the southern part of Dhaka city. It is the biggest market in the city and also in Bangladesh, especially for middle-class family members.

We started our journey at 11 am in the morning. We took a vehicle in Bengali called a "rickshaw”. My two friends and I got up in one rikshaw to go to the metro rail station. We reached the metro station at 11:25 am. Then we took our ticket. Dhaka city is a city of traffic, and a metro line has been recently introduced, which is the fastest medium of transportation on this route. So, we always prefer the metro line if we visit the surrounding places on this line.

My friend Tanjina was very excited because it was her first metro train journey. It was my fifth metro train journey. But I am also very excited that we three will go shopping together. Many people can be seen who are travelling by the metro rail first time here. So, the metro line remains very busy throughout the whole days.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We start our metro rail journey at 11:30 am. We will go to the front of the 1st compartment of the metro rail, which is for women only. It is safe option for girsl as the other shuttles are heavily crowded. We went to the first compartment, and then we sat beside each other. We were very happy to get a seat there, though the duration of the journey was not so long.

In the metro shuttle, we took some pictures. We started our journey from the Uttara station and wanted to reach the Dhaka University station which is around 30 minutes of journey. After reaching, we took another rickshaw and went to Eastern Moll for shopping.

We enter the moll, then we go to level -4 to buy our drees. It is a famous shopping complex in the new market area. They also sell their products online and deliver them with a little bit of delivery cost. So, from the online searching, we knew the shop address.
So, we were able to find our destination shop. Then we bought several dresses for each of us including sarees, three pieces, and so on. After buying our dresses, we had also visited some other shops but due to our budget, we didn’t buy from all those shops. We just explored the new collections and checked the prices for future shopping plans.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After that, we left the place. We came to buy shoes. So my two friends and I bought some shoes. After buying the shoes, my friend Tanjina bought a bag to carry her university utensils. And my friend Joya brought some jewelry.

After shopping, we rode a rickshaw to the Dhaka University metro train station to return back to our home. Then we arrived, and I went in line to buy a ticket. During this time, my fd Tanzina will take care of all our shopping. After cutting the ticket, we go the stairs by climbing up the escalator. And wait for the train. After 5 minutes the train arrives. We go to the women's compartment again.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
This time, it was crowded, and we needed to complete the journey by standing. After 30 min, we reach our destination. After that, we took another rickshaw and reached our home. After reaching home, we freshened ourselves and started to make our iftar. We enjoyed a lot during that day. It was a great memory.
