Creating Hive Hubs and local parallel economies with $HIVE and $HBD

In this segment of our Guatemala Meetup, Bryan of The Lake (We're pushing to change to this new identity ) @buttcoins , @starkerz and I discuss an idea of creating Hive Hubs in cities around the world. Local groups of users, and merchants that can work together to learn and use the plethora of value transfer tools available within the HIVE ecosystem. We put forth some ideas for creating parallel economies that use non-KYC, permissionless stable coins such as $HBD which users can earn from being active on HIVE.

This is method is an inspiration from hubs that are already active in cities like Sucre, Venezuela.

Hive Lake

Bryan lives and runs his hotel in Lake Atitlan, a mountain paradise with a spectacular view of the lake and three volcanos. La Atitalan is well-known among adventurous travelers from all over the world, many of which are digital nomads, photographers and travel bloggers. Bryan believes that by having information available to these folks about what the HIVE ecosystem is and how to use it to share much of the content they are already creating, these tourists can earn some cryptocurrency and spend it at bars, coffee shops and restaurants that already accept both $HIVE and $HBD.

Hive in the city

The studio where we recorded this podcast (@recording-box) has a lot of musicians as clients. Musicians that usually play gigs at bars and go on tour to earn money. We've been helping these musicians create an account and make their first post with a live session in the studio, where they earn their first upvotes from the HIVE community. The rewards they receive from their first posts can be used to buy beer, studio time, or food at any of the shops that already accept Bitcoin over Lightning network.
