Hello guys! Today I bring you one of the endemic species of my country, the Cuban crocodile. It is one of the smallest species of the genus, precisely because of its condition of living on the island, it is a clear example of the evolution of the Crocodylus genus.
In the Zapata Swamp, Cuba, a hatchery was built, with the aim of caring for the species. Many times crocodiles come to our coasts from the south of the United States and they are free to roam freely through the swamp, however, this native species of the island is very well preserved in this hatchery. In reality, this is one of the reasons why we are so focused on preserving the species, since the hybridization of the Cuban crocodile with the American crocodile has caused the number of specimens of the native species of the island to decrease, including hunting illegal of them.
They are not really the most impressive, as I already told you about their size, they rarely reach 3.5m, it is their maximum recorded size, but it is truly attractive to observe them in their natural habitat, even at some times of the day those of us who visit the place can appreciate how they eat, the sound of their jaws when grabbing the food is impressive.
Guys, Guamá, which is the specific name of the place where this hatchery is located, is a place to which you are invited without hesitation, the diversity of its flora and fauna is simply magnificent.
