Browsing on my latest YouTube recommendations and I saw this old gem of a game I played years back. I made a review about it in the past where the summary still applies even today.

The game recently launched a patch that makes even the seasoned veterans play it like it’s the first time. It’s convenient for new players to be starting on the recent patch as it tears down the old meta and is in the process of shaping a new meta leaning more on fast paced click and type.

It’s still an intense side-scrolling game where fast hands and quick improvisation decides the end game. The diversity of characters and their backstory just adds more flavor to the game than your standard battle royale.

The old gameplay offered plenty of room to build items and make some comebacks by leveling up on side creeps. This new patch forces quick builds to thrive on skirmishes and finish the game faster.

It’s been more than 2 years since I last played the game and there were some subtle changes to how the gameplay has shaped to what it is now. Before I could rely on skills and quick strategies to survive without relying on the stat difference in items during in game combat. It’s still viable to rely on just fast hands and quick thinking but to be competitive means minding the small things like building on character stats prior to starting the game.

The game has now incorporated a grind fest element in trying to level up your favorite character to use on the battlefield. I don’t think this change is bad, it certainly gives more difficulty reaching the end game where you maxed out every character potential. But the downside is having too many stats to mind that it can be overwhelming to keep tract what this character does against this one and what item builds suit this and that. The old game gave me those options but one can just muscle their way into building core items to victory fast.

Everyone is gangsta at this game until they start facing Koreans.

Before I stopped playing the game, the roster was only 20 characters and now I can’t even recognize half of them and what they bring on the table. The lore of the game has improved a lot and the tutorials for beginners helped explained the mechanics better than how it used to be.
If you don’t mind a game with the anime aesthetic, battle royale themed side scrolling fast paced action, this one may suit your taste and it’s free on Steam. You can also play it across multiple devices but there’s an advantage to being on a desktop with shortcut keys. It’s still the same none pay to win type of game and the skins aren’t that bad if you like to support the devs.

I’m thinking of having some tournaments here if there are more people interested in learning the game. We only need a minimum of ten to make a full private room. If you’re interested in playing the game, do message me on Discord so we can play together for kicks and giggles.

If you made it this far reading, thank you for your time.
