How can you get a Reddit Icon next to your username? It's easy.
Go to https://hiveposh.com/ and register!
Registering is quite fast, just one Reddit authentication and you're in.
Aside from having linked your Hive account to your Reddit account, why should one do this?
This enables you to earn POSH and Hive for your successful Hive link shares on subreddits.
Thankfully Reddit's recent API cost changes didn't affect us, for now. Which means our work towards making this possible wasn't as wasted as our work on Twitter, while we're hopeful that may change and become a bit clearer eventually, we can in the meantime focus some of our sharing on Reddit.
While Reddit's a bit more complicated to spread the word around Hive by sharing content of all kinds on their many subreddits, given the right place and time it might be worth it in many ways and we are here to reward you for that effort as the whole ecosystem benefits off of that. Hive needs more users and this may be one of the many ways we can get them!
Here's an example of how it works, let's take one of the latest shares that was successfully registered by our bot. Hiver @kstreet shared his Gods Unchained article in the Gods Unchained subreddit a few days ago, notice how it's not even submitted as a link but the link to the post is in the body of the reddit submission:
The submission did quite well, 5 upvotes and twice the amount of comments, but on the same day someone else also shared a post that got over 44 upvotes in a different subreddit. Since these two shares were the only Hive links shared that day, they were the only two accounts to earn POSH!
It gets even better, we also have people looking out for these shares to then upvote the comments that notify the author of the shared post about it. These comments liquidate the rewards so you can receive the rewards 100% as liquid Hive without a single fee after 7 days of the share:
Currently only 25 POSH are going towards Reddit daily, but with the increase in registrations and activity, we're also going to increase the daily POSH reward pool. More active people, more POSH, more Hive rewards and potentially more users reading your content on Hive and maybe even going so far as to create an account to engage with it and learn more about our ecosystem!
The thing with Reddit is that you have to be careful where you post, it's not as "free for all" as your own Twitter page, it's a bit more like communities here on Hive. You gotta make sure you read the rules in the sidebar and make sure your content is going to fit in with the subreddit and its potential readers. It requires a bit testing your way through, but we're excited to see what kind of subreddits everyone will stumble upon, which ones will allow your links to stay on there and let you earn POSH and Hive and the value it may bring back to our ecosystem.
With only 100 registered Reddit users on hiveposh.com at the moment (compared to Twitter's 3500), we wanted to run a little kickstart contest.
We're going to be giving away 3 POSH each to everyone new who successfully shares a Hive link on Reddit from this post on until it pays out.
The bot will register and mention everyone new once in its daily posts and then it will also notify you of upcoming POSH earnings with a link to your share. The same way as Twitter used to work basically 😅

Something we'd like you to keep in mind:
Shares on Hive-related subreddits won't get your shares registered with the bot, POSH is about attention and traffic from outsiders, not to bring people to your posts who already are Hivers. Same goes for trying to cheat the reward system by sharing onto dead subreddits or subreddits you own, etc. We will ban the subreddit and potentially your Hive account from earning POSH & Hive once we notice these attempts.
Other than that, you can share as often as you like but try not to anger those Reddit mods, they're already going through a lot with their protests and whatnot. :D Have fun!
